SS-31

SS-31 (Elamipretide) is a synthetic mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide (D-Arg-dimethylTyr-Lys-Phe-NH2) investigated in laboratory and controlled clinical research for its interaction with cardiolipin-rich inner mitochondrial membranes. Designed to selectively localize to mitochondria independent of membrane potential, SS-31 is studied for its ability to stabilize mitochondrial membrane structure and modulate electron transport chain efficiency under controlled experimental conditions. Its peptide structure allows it to associate with phospholipid domains central to mitochondrial bioenergetics research.
